We have an fantastic opportunity for a highly creative Animators to join our studio based in Sheffield. The Animators primary role will involve creating high quality character animation and creature animation for projects onsite.

We are looking for candidates that can easily integrate within a team and have a minimum of 3 years production experience. A degree or relevant animation qualification is preferred. It is important that we receive a link to your showreel demonstrating outstanding ability in the fundamentals of character animation. The roles are full-time and we are looking for candidates that can take on responsibility, stick to deadlines and have a passion for creating their best work every day.

Responsibilities:

  • Creating Character, Creature and Vehicle Keyframe Animation

  • Camera Layout/Previs

  • Scene Caching and Clean up

  • Planning character performance for shots, including recording reference

  • Working closely with your team to ensure consistency across shots

  • Continuing technical knowledge, adapting to new processes and technologies


Skills & Requirements

You must have:

  • Excellent knowledge of animating using Autodesk Maya, demonstrating superb animation skills  with knowledge of strong posing, weight, timing, rhythm and most importantly storytelling.

  • Good communication skills and ability to work with other departments to solve difficult challenges.

  • A knowledge of basic artistic human anatomy.

  • Proven production experience of 3 years.

  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of real world physics and applying this within animation.

  • Good knowledge of cinematography

We'd also ideally like you to have:

  • Experience with camera animation and the Maya camera sequencer.

  • Experience with Motion Capture Data.

We have an fantastic opportunity for a Production Manager to join our studio based in Sheffield. The Managers primary role will involve budgeting, scheduling, briefing and managing teams and overseeing production, for projects onsite.

Flexibility and adaptability are key attributes for an Lunar Production Manager. We’re looking for someone with a 'roll-your-sleeves up' attitude, which we feel is important when it comes to managing the iterative development of a production across multiple departments, under tight deadlines. Problem-solving skills, task delegation and a keen eye for logistics are the key skills for this role, requiring detailed engagement with the creative or technical challenges that arise on a wide variety of projects.

Candidates must be willing and able to work onsite in Sheffield.

Responsibilities:

  • The role requires an experienced candidate with a proven track record of delivering high quality products, who has the skills required to manage projects – staying within budget and on schedule. We’re also looking for a great communicator who will organise and motivate their team and work alongside directors and creative leads to ensure their vision is realised.

  • The role will involve liaising with and advising clients to determine requirements and manage their expectations, producing cost breakdowns and scheduling, and generally overseeing projects from start to finish.

  • You will often be the first point of contact with clients so will need to be completely at ease meeting and discussing projects with senior personnel, and be able to instil calm and confidence in clients.

  • You must have a real interest in pushing the aesthetic of what we do and an appreciation of what that means for the artists and technology within the studio.

We have a brilliant opportunity for a creative Previs and layout artist to join our studio based in Sheffield. The Artists primary role will involve creating high quality staging, blocking and camera work that makes the foundation of a successful shot and/or sequence of shots, across a variety of styles and projects.

The role must be carried out onsite.

We are looking for a candidate that can easily integrate within a team and have a minimum of 3 years production experience. It is important that we receive a link to your showreel demonstrating ability. The role is full-time and we are looking for candidates that can take on responsibility, stick to deadlines and have a passion for creating their best work every day.

Responsibilities:

  • Creation of basic, proxy assets for 3d previs.

  • Translation of script breakdown into 3d previz

  • Translation of storyboards and animatics into 3d previs

  • Staging, blocking and camera work in 3d layout

  • Finessing of cameras at animation stage where required

  • Maintaining consistent quality, style and continuity, both visually and technically throughout the project.


Skills & Requirements

You must have:

  • Excellent knowledge of Autodesk Maya.

  • Accomplished examples of previz and layout.

  • A good sense of timing, rhythm and most importantly storytelling.

  • Strong critical reasoning and emotional awareness within storytelling is essential.

  • Strong understanding of cinematography, with a keen eye for composition

  • Good communication skills and ability to work interactively with production and other departments to solve production challenges.

  • Experience and understanding of real-world cameras.

We have an fantastic opportunity for a highly creative 3D Modelling and Texture Artist to join our studio based in Sheffield. The candidate for this position needs to demonstrate the deep understanding of industry standard 3D modelling and texturing techniques as well as show interest in emerging trends in this field.

The role requires someone who has the ability to tackle different types of assets using both hard surface and sculpted techniques. It is important that we receive a link to your portfolio demonstrating ability.

The candidate would be primarily working on cartoon stylised pieces similar to those in Lunar Animation’s portfolio. A portfolio demonstrating similar styles is a strong plus point.

The role is full-time and we are looking for candidates that can take on responsibility, stick to deadlines and have a passion for creating their best work every day.

Responsibilities:

  • Create assets that are suitable technically and artistically

  • Accurately Integrating assets into the pipeline

  • Ensure all work meets set specifications for the project

  • Managing feedback and technical challenges

  • Clearly and regularly communicating with production management

  • Working with department lead to improve tools and processes to increase department productivity


Skills & Requirements

You must have:

  • Examples demonstrating, Modelling, Texturing and Shading

  • In depth knowledge of Maya and or Modo for modelling

  • Knowledge of Substance Painter or other 3D texturing software

  • Basic understanding of Lighting and Look Development, VRay experience a plus

  • Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team

  • Ability to adapt to new processes and pipelines

  • Basic rigging skills a plus

Job Description

We have a fantastic opportunity for a lighting and compositing artist to join our Sheffield based studio. The role will involve developing lighting setups, adjusting shaders and rendering and compositing shots, whilst keeping consistency across a sequence.

The ideal candidate should demonstrate an eye for lighting composition, a good understanding of colour theory and a strong technical ability. Production experience and a degree is preferred but not essential. It is important that we receive a link to your showreel demonstrating examples of lighting and compositing.

The role is full-time and we are looking for candidates that can take on responsibility, stick to deadlines and have a passion for creating their best work every day.

Responsibilities:

  • Light 3d scenes to establish mood and support storytelling

  • Develop lighting setups that can be used across a sequence of shots

  • Receive and act on direction given by the lighting lead

  • Match the established look and quality of existing shots

  • Composite rendered cg elements and deliver final shots

  • Assist in editing or creating shaders.

  • Clearly and regularly communicating with production management

HOUDINI FX Generalist


Job Description

We have a fantastic opportunity for a highly creative FX Generalist to join our studio based in Sheffield. The candidate for this position needs to demonstrate their ability in a range of different parts of animation production.

The role will primarily focus on FX, covering RBD, Soft-bodies, Pyro, FLIP, and cloth in side Houdini. The ability to create art directable, reusable setups is a must. As a generalist candidates will also need to display knowledge of modelling and texturing assets. The ability to perform rigging inside of Maya is a strong plus point.

The candidate would be primarily working on cartoon stylised pieces similar to those in Lunar Animation’s portfolio. A portfolio demonstrating similar styles is a strong plus point.

It is important that we receive a link to your portfolio demonstrating ability.

The role is full-time and we are looking for candidates that can take on responsibility, stick to deadlines and have a passion for creating their best work every day.

Responsibilities:

  • Create assets that are suitable technically and artistically

  • Accurately Integrating FXs into the pipeline

  • Creating a variety of FXs

  • Ensure all work meets set specifications for the project

  • Managing feedback and technical challenges

  • Clearly and regularly communicating with production management

  • Working with department lead to improve tools and processes to increase department productivity


Skills & Requirements

You must have:

  • Examples FXs work, RBD, Soft-bodies, Pyro, FLIP, and Cloth. Inside Houdini

  • Knowledge of Maya

  • Ability to light and render FX passes ready for composting, VRay experience a plus

  • Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team

  • Ability to adapt to new processes and pipelines

We'd also ideally like you to have:

  • Rigging skills a plus

  • Understanding of Nuke and the composting pipeline

  • Python scripting
